Simplified accounting in practice is the KPiR (tax book of revenue and expenditure) or the revenue register on ryczałt, which serve mainly to calculate tax. Capital companies always keep full books, while sole proprietors and some partnerships — only from a revenue threshold of EUR 2.5 million or by their own choice.

Who must keep full accounting

The Accounting Act covers, regardless of revenue:

capital companies (sp. z o.o., simple joint-stock company, joint-stock company), also in organisation,

limited partnerships and limited joint-stock partnerships and partnerships in which a legal person is a partner,

foundations, associations and other legal persons,

branches and representative offices of foreign entrepreneurs.

Natural persons, civil-law partnerships and general partnerships of natural persons and professional partnerships move to books of account when, in the previous financial year, their net revenue from the sale of goods and products reached EUR 2,500,000 or more.
